Kirit Parikh Panel Recommendations 2010

Kirit Parikh committee has submitted its report on fuel pricing to the Petroleum Minster Murali Deora on Wednesday, February 3, 2010.The Kirit Parikh panel suggested that the government should free the prices of fuel.

  • Freeing of petrol and diesel prices at both refinery and retail levels.Let the state-run fuel retailers to fix petrol, diesel prices (on par with international prices)
  • Hiking the prices of LPG by Rs 100 per cylinder and kerosene by Rs. 6 per litre.
  • State-run oil marketing companies suffered losses worth Rs 40,000 crore since they were selling transport fuels at a lower price.


If the government accepts the recommendations of Kirit Parikh committee, there would be hike in the prices as listed out (approximately):
